I met Livvy at the This Is England Film Festival in Rouen in November 2025, where her powerful and thought-provoking short film Strokes of Wildflowers deeply moved me. Its portrayal of the strength found in the community during stroke recovery resonated on a profound level.

For the past eight years, I have been running the charity Dementia Singing Experience, Sussex, having previously worked as one of its singing facilitators. Through this work, I have witnessed first-hand the transformative power of music—how it reconnects people, restores confidence, and brings moments of joy and identity to those living with dementia.

Seeing Livvy’s film sparked a compelling vision: to create a piece that captures and communicates this same sense of connection and hope, using music as a unifying force. A film that could speak across generations—raising awareness, challenging perceptions, and highlighting the vital role of community in living well with neurological conditions. 

I presented this idea to the charity’s trustees, who fully supported me in developing it further. Since then, I have successfully secured funding from a range of sources, and the project is now in pre-production.

Our ambition is not only to create a meaningful and emotionally resonant short film, but to ensure it reaches as wide an audience as possible. Following a strategic film festival run, we plan to partner with national and international dementia organisations, charities, and the Department for Education, with the aim of sharing the film across digital platforms, educational settings, and community spaces.

This is more than a film—it is an opportunity to amplify voices, inspire understanding, and demonstrate the extraordinary power of music to connect, heal, and transform lives.
